In this tutorial you will learn how to make an old photo effect in Adobe Photoshop.
First make a copy of the background layer by dragging it down to the copy option or press Ctrl or Cmnd J on a Windows or Mac respectively. To de-saturate the image press, Ctrl, or Cmnd Shift U on a Windows, or Mac respectively. Then click on the adjustment button and select brightness and contrast.
In the properties, check on Use Legacy, Increase the brightness to 15% and decrease the contrast to -15%.
Now click on adjustment button again and select levels.
In the properties panel change the greys to 0.90. Now go to filter, noise and add noise. In the properties make the amount to 90% and press ok.
Now go to filter, blur and lens blur. Change the radius to 5 and press ok.
I will be using this cracked tile image, so select the image and drag it over to the main file.
Now press Ctrl or Cmnd Shift U to de-saturate the image. Then press Ctrl or Cmnd I to invert it. Now drag the cracked tile layer above the other layers. Now click on the blending options.
Select soft light and decrease the opacity to 40%. Now go to image, adjustments and select levels.
In the properties make the blacks to 35, greys to 0.40 and whites to 120, to make the cracks more visible. Now go to image, adjustments and select brightness and contrast.
In the properties check on use legacy, increase the brightness to 10 and contrast to 40.
Now I have used another image of an old paper, drag this image on to the main file. Go to the blending options and select soft light. Now change the opacity to 50%
And this is how you can turn any image in to an old photo.
