How to Set 777 Permissions in Windows 7

Permission are usually set to limit the access of files or folders on a computer or on a network environment. 777 permissions is a term which is used to define full control access to folders and files. This is basically a Linux based term. However, it can also be used for a Windows based operating system. Follow this step by step guide to learn how to set 777 permissions in windows.



Step # 1 – Open up the Properties of a Folder
In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to set 777 permissions in windows 7. First of all, right click on a folder on which you want to allow full access. Now click on the “Properties” option from the menu to open its properties panel.

Step # 2 – Open the Advanced Sharing Option
Once the folder properties oprn, go to the “Sharing” tab which is located at the top left corner of the properties panel. Now click on the “Advanced Sharing” button in this tab.

Step # 3 – Open the Permissions Option
In the next step, click the “Share this folder” option to enable it. Now click on the “Permissions” button to set permissions and access.

Step # 4 – Allow a Full Control to Access
In the Permission settings panel, click on the select the “Allow” checkbox next to the “Full Control” option to set full permission to access or change this folder. Once you have selected it, click on the “Apply” button to save these settings. Now click on the “OK” button to exit. This will allow 777 permissions or full access to the selected folder on a network.
