Introduction:
In this tutorial you are going to learn how to find server location using an IP lookup and then a website.
Step # 1 – Finding a Servers IP Address
The first step is going to be finding out the IP address of a website, once you have this IP address you can easily run a search for it. Click on the start orb and in the “Search programs and files” box type “cmd” and hit return. A command window will open and you need to type “ping” then a space and then the web address of the site you want to locate the server for. Here we are entering “www.bbc.co.uk”.
Step # 2 – Running an IP Search
Below you will see that you get a response from the server and it will be stated as an IP address. You now need to open your preferred internet browser and navigate to the URL “www.iplocation.net” and into the “IP Address” box enter the IP that just appeared in command prompt. When done click the “Query” button.
Step # 3 – The Location Information
As you can see the search has been completed and it has successfully located the location of the server. As you can see all of the information indicates the server is in the United Kingdom and the more precise locations are relatively close to each other – giving you a decent idea of the servers location. That is the simple process to find server location.
